Kenyan Kanga
The Kanga is a traditional cloth worn by women in East Africa. Kangas are colourful rectangular pieces of material and they feature a swahili proverb printed around a central decorative picture.
The Kanga is made from a woven cotton and may be a little stiff when you first purchase it, but after a few runs through the washing machine it will soften up and becomes a lovely lightweight material.
At Tili Bwino we stock a beautiful range of girls dresses, patchwork quilts and Christmas stockings made by a small Kenyan company, the Kanga Collection. Putting a contemporary spin on traditional pieces of cloth, these pieces are vibrant, fun and very easy to love!

Zambian Chitenge
Found in Zambia and neighbouring country Malawi, this type of African cloth is still used in traditional ways in both countries. Chitenge’s are rectangular pieces of cloth and feature amazing colourful designs. Women wear them around their waists and heads and they are essential part of everyday living. At Tili Bwino we have been inspired by traditional chitenge designs and reproduced them on cotton jersey knit (t-shirt material) giving the patterns a new lease on life on an easily wearable and washable fabric for the little loves of our lives.
You will adore our Tili Bwino signature children’s range.
